FarRide - Ride to Eat Series

What riders have to say about FarRides, all traveled in excess of 1000k for the day !!

Fran P rode her 2006 Honda CBR1000RR FireBlade and commented - I’ve always loved riding long distances and riding in wet, stormy weather and the route that Chris and I travelled had it all: day and night riding - wet and dry – calm and stormy – highways and playways. And I’m sure we could have achieved the target in half the time (12 hours) had we not stopped so regularly and got caught up yacking But part of travelling long distances are the characters you meet along the way. Davo, the concept of the Farride, Ride to Eat is excellent and one I can and will highly recommend to anyone who will listen. Thanks for pointing me in this direction. You can count me in on the next one. - FarRide West #4
Stewart H emailed me "returned home safe with 1003.3km traveled , trip time including fuel stops and lunch was 13hrs. I believe I can now beat my drum and claim to be a farrider. I enjoyed today immensely , thank you for allowing me to participate. - FarRide West #4
Justin rode his BMW R1200 ST and said " I arrived home safely just before 5:00pm. Because I wanted to be sure to meet the 11:00 - 11:30 appointment, and because I wanted the bulk of the mileage before the appointed time, I actually started at 2:10am. Riding conditions before sunup were very good. I think I will do a lot more night riding, thanks for the opportunity to go on this ride. - FarRide West #4
Mike L had this to say "Hi Dave, I stumbled through my front door with a severe case of monkey butt ( just kidding, I felt surprisingly good ) at 6.45pm and my final total was 1058 km's. Thanks for coming up with the Ride to Eat series, it was a good ride with great people. I definately be there for the next and it's also made me think harder about trying the SaddleSore 1600" - FarRide West #4
Nathaniel arrived on his CBR1100XX Blackbird from Clovelly (near Sydney) and later said, "Just dropping you an email to say thanks for organising FarRide #4, I really enjoyed the chance to get out and go somewhere different. I cruised some roads I hadn't travelled before, saw some interesting sights, and smelled my way through the countryside - such as the coal power stations past Maitland and the cotton farms at Gunnedah.
I ended up coming back down through Tamworth to change the roads around and boy the roads were great - big sweepers through the hills, bloody good fun, all up I booked up about 1300kms for the day, arriving home around 10pm that night. I'm kicking myself I didn't turn it into a 1600K! Ah well, always next time." - FarRide #4
Alwyn "Baz" B lives at Broken Hill and rides a Vulcan 2000LT, "All I can say is that without the FarRideBR07 I would not have done my Road Trip" Baz completed a total 8750klms for his full road trip. Well done mate. - FarRide BR07
John C I met John on The Long Ride to Darwin in April. He rode his BMW1150RT from Melbourne. He had a great trip butt said this in his email, "I have got to get one of those airhawk seats- My bum has divorced me !!. - FarRide BR07
Jason rode his Bandit 1200 from Toowoomba and emailed me, "Finally home with XXXX Gold in hand and smile on face after 1032 km. What a fantastic ride. A truely magnificent night for riding as well. Bright, cloudless sky, very little traffic. Something about riding at night, isnt there? A feeling of wholeness and being at one with the road, maybe thats just me. Bugger all fauna as well, a cat, a fox, a couple of roos and a near miss with an owl. For me just a euphoric feeling at the end with a desire to turn around and do it all again straight away. Was great to meet everyone and enjoyable to share a meal with likeminded riders. I look forward to seeing the familiar faces again. Well done on organising a good day." - FarRide #4
Ken astride his HD Ultra Classic from Brisbane says, "Firstly Dave, a big thankyou for (a) organising the ride and (b) inviting me to join you. It was good to put a face to the name and meet both you and other like minded bikers, all be it briefly. I am not surprised, that both the RTE's and your FarRiders web site is becoming more popular, as what I have observed over time, is that there is actually quite a few people "out there" doing some serious distance motorcycling. I look forward to being invited on FarRide # 4" - FarRide #3
Rob A from Perth riding a GTR1000 emailed, "Great concept Dave. Have done 2 FarRides here in the West and enjoyed every kilometer. I reckon half the fun is preparing for it (working out routes & making sure all the “farkles” are working properly! – was up till all hours the night before the ride and had the bike stripped down because I had an intermittent mp3 player cable!! Also good practice for those “really” long rides! Funny, second time the 1000k seemed much less than the first time! I guess the more you do it, the easier it gets – after all, it’s just a road!" - West FarRide #1 &2
John Mc from Brisbane says, "Thanks for putting the ride together. Really enjoyed it." - FarRide #3 John has finished two Iron Butt Rallies in the US. 11,000m in 11 days.
Boris from Bikeme.tv and on a brand spanking new '07 R6 from Sydney posted, "I’d like to thank Dave for his invite to this. I spoke to a few of the Farriders, trying to understand what motivates these amazing blokes to do what they do – and I’m still thinking on that. I know for sure they love riding big distances more than they like anything else. So it’s kinda funny that not more of us “riders” do stuff like this, isn’t it?" - FarRide #3
Adrian on his VFR750 from Coolum says, "Thanks again for organising a great ride, the final location was well worth the trip and it was good day all round. Ended up clocking 1471kms in total, getting back to the Sunny Coast at 2130. Looking forward to the next meet." - FarRide #3
John "Gags" GTR1000 rider from Shepparton says, "....... total of 2720 klm round trip, great lunch and good company, may even be allowed out for next FarRide." - FarRide #3
Keith on his ZX9s from Brisbane says, "Many thanks for organising a great ride and lunch, I've only been riding for 18 months and that was the most enjoyable to date, and 400km longer ! A couple more of these and I reckon a 1600km may be achievable, Thanks again, and I look forward to our next meeting." - FarRide #1
Bevan on his VFR800 from Brisbane says, "Hi Dave, Mick on his ZX10r & Keith on his ZX9r both asked me to send you a big thank you for yesterday and I certainly echo that sentiment, we all had a great day and arrived home safe and well.
