Ride To Eat - FarRide Border Run '07 Border Village SA - 4th August 2007
This is not one of the usual FarRides. The Border Run has been happening at Border Village every year on the first Saturday of August for 30 years, this being the 31st. It is also the home of "The Pudding" a Big Sister self saucing pudding (long since dead) that has been traveling Australia by motorcycle for 30 years. You will find very little about the Border Run online, it "just happens" with no organisation or plan.
Note: You must still do at least one 1000klm day before arriving at Border Village, it's only right and fair don't you think.

As a few FarRiders are already going I thought I might let the others know. Border Village ( not to be confused with Border Town south east of Adelaide ) is on the SA side of the WA border with Eucla being on the WA side. It is in the middle of nowhere, that is why it's special. Last year over 120 riders attended as it was a 30th Anniversary Run. I personally have overnighted the evening before (for what is left of the night as I get in about midnight) at Ceduna BP as they are 24hr but will most likely catch a few zzz at Port Augusta (BP carpark) this year. I will also most likely be camping in the caravan park part of the road house at Border Village BP.
Common layovers the night before are Balladonia if coming from the west and Streaky Bay from the east.
Keep in mind this FarRide has nothing to do with the Border Run, I am just using it for a destination to co-incide with the run. It is unlike any other FarRide we have done as the distance is far greater for most. Last year a similar group of tourers did a group ride from Perth WA. Ours will most likely be individual riders meeting but doing their own thing on the way although as its a remote location some may like to buddy up.
Email me any concerns or questions on this one as I did the run last year and have done a couple of Nullarbor crossings I may be able to help.

I have been asked where the name came from, FarRide. I watched a movie recently called Hidalgo.
Frank was called "Far Rider" in that movie and I liked the term when related to endurance riding.
